The Story of Hobgood Hemp is the story of Hobgood NC. It’s the story of the underdog. The story of the little guy. It’s a small town in eastern NC with only 300 residents, but a town thriving because of the character of its people. It’s the story of a farmer named David Mayer … my father in law.

David is a servant. One of several Hobgood, NC residents over the years to receive NC’s highest civilian honor, “The Order of the Long Leaf Pine.” As much as David loves to give back to his family and community, his ability to do so came into jeopardy when became ill. When he personally experienced good results from hemp products, there was no turning back.

When NC launched their hemp pilot program in 2016, David applied and became one of the first NC farmers to grow hemp in decades. Since then David Mayer Farms has raised many successful hemp crops and continually improves growing techniques. His operation is considered one of the finest in America due to the quality of the crop. Hobgood Hemp was created to help bring this amazing blessing to other people.
